Review of Udta Punjab :-

First of all, read this review without any bias as we have written the same without any bias towards or against Indian censor board chief Pahlaj nihlani or makers of the film i.e. Anurag Kashyap’s Phantom Films. Our Movie review of Udta Punjab feature film is strictly on merit basis.

So this film UDTA PUNJAB is montage of three separate stories of Drug victims who either chose it voluntarily or slipped to it due to circumstances. There is one superstar who has not only consumed drugs for self but has motivated entire generation of Punjab to use the same to show swagger. So in a way the celebrity popstar played by Shahid Kapoor is not only a victim but culprit as well. Nevertheless , the sense prevails somewhere and he choses what is right.

The second story is of a teenager who happens to be brother of Corrupt Policeman who is also a culprit as being a part of system instead of preventing the illegal sale and distribution of drugs, he allows it against monetary gains. As they say, KARMA is a BITCH, our policewala hero gets to taste this.

The third story is of a Farm worker girl played by Alia bhatt.  This is definitely one of the best female characters created by any film makers in recent times. She falls victim to this but bravely comes out of it.

Climax and end of the film is not appreciated by typical movie watchers but true cinema friends will get it that the film is not blame the system only but about how the menace is created and how one needs to come-out of it. Had they shown much abt the culprits, it should have ended as generic film. Thankfully Anurag kashyap’s director Abhishek choubey did the 100% justice with such a sensitive subject.

Definitely brave film with 100% honesty. Cinematography is awesome. Music goes unnoticed. Background score is better. Acting by all the actors is worldclass.  Salute to the makers !!!
